Goodhope with the University of Tokyo pioneer supply chain research

This January, led by our Responsible Sourcing team we embarked on a research project with the University of Tokyo and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) to improve the functioning of the supply chain especially in relation to the independent smallholders. This research project is sponsored by Mitsui & Co and has potential commercialization applications that would benefit Goodhope.

The researchers visited PT Agro Bukit where General Manager, Pak Wildan graciously hosted the team for two days, coordinating their visit itinerary to the Sungai Binti Mill and independent smallholder plantations in Desa Pasir Putih and Desa Bapeang in Central Kalimantan.

Mr. Hiromitsu Samejima who led the research team from IGES said that they enjoyed the trip very much and appreciative of the hospitality shown by Pak Wildan and our Responsible Sourcing team. The researchers look forward to returning to Indonesia in a few months’ time with their preliminary research findings.
