We are proud to share that out of the 100 palm oil companies participating in the 2023 SPOTT (Sustainable Palm Oil Transparency Toolkit) Assessment, Goodhope Asia Holdings Ltd. (GAHL) ranked 9th.
We have increased our score from 85.9% in 2022 to 91.3% this year. This is an important milestone for us. We had set the goal of becoming in the top 10 globally in SPOTT ranking and this year we achieved it.
The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) SPOTT initiative assesses one hundred palm oil producers, processors, and traders on their public disclosure regarding their organization, policies, and practices related to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.
Our sustainability team has worked diligently to improve GAHL’s sustainability and transparency standards and, as a result, our SPOTT ranking has been rising steadily since 2018, when the SPOTT assessment was launched. Back then we ranked 24th, last year 13th and this year 9th.
Only Sime Darby, Wilmar, and Musim Mas ranked higher among fully integrated companies. We rank ahead of our key peers; KLK (30th), Cargil (28th), Olam (28th), Asian Agri (25th), Bumitama (20th), Golden Agri (20th), M.P. Evans (13th), SIPEF (11th), and DSN (10th).
The challenge next year will be to maintain this rank as further improvement will depend on our progress in increasing the percentage of the RSPO-certified areas.
