As Goodhope moves towards working together seamlessly as one effective organization, our colleagues from the responsible sourcing and outside crop procurement teams attended a capacity-building workshop together. This is to ensure that we are all on the same page regarding evolving global sustainability requirements in the palm oil supply chain.
Held on the 1st and 2nd of February 2024 in Bogor, the program was conducted by Daemeter Consulting, a highly recognized independent consulting firm promoting sustainable development through responsible and equitable management of natural resources.
“This was a very timely workshop for both teams to engage with each other and clarify practical issues on the ground. We managed to discuss certain grey areas with Daemeter and are now able to proceed as good citizens by adopting the latest best practices in responsible sourcing,” said Amjad Ibrahim, Head of Procurement and Business Services.
The program covered sessions on buyers’ expectations of responsible sourcing, updates on EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation), traceability to plantations, and FFB (Fresh Fruit Bunch) sourcing risks in Kalimantan.
Across the two-day session, our teams discussed how best to implement the changes in standards and requirements with the relevant stakeholders (farmers, agents, local authorities, etc.) We are confident that through such continuous improvement in capacity building our Goodhope team will soon emerge as top experts in this field for our industry.
Daemeter Consulting is a long-time trusted Goodhope partner. We have sought their expertise since 2019 on technical issues related to responsible sourcing as well as worked with them to pioneer Goodhope’s Farmer Field School program.
