In recognition of the Goodhope Group’s quality Human Resource Management practices, Goodhope Asia Holdings Ltd won a Silver Award in the overall category at the 6th consecutive HRM Awards Ceremony held on March 6th, 2015 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Sri Lanka.
The HRM Awards 2014 is a biennial event organized since 2002 by the Association of Human Resource Professionals (HRP), whose membership is made up of HR professionals and practitioners from leading organizations in Sri Lanka. This edition of HRM awards was undertaken in collaboration with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), which is the largest not-for-profit HR body in the world with over 275,000 members in 160 countries. The SHRM acted as the technical partner for the HRP.
The awards aim to provide a platform for public and private sector companies to evaluate the effectiveness of their human resource management practices against internationally accepted standards and guidelines. The HRM Award is also considered a benchmark for industry best practices for Human Resource Practices in Sri Lanka.
To be considered for an Award, all companies go through a rigorous and stringent evaluation process. A comprehensive preliminary evaluation and screening is carried out by understanding the HR practices, policies and processes followed by the Company covering areas such as HR Strategy, Talent Acquisition & On-boarding, Talent Management, Performance Management, Talent Development, Rewards & Recognition, Work Environment, and Human Resource Operations & HR Metrics.
This is then substantiated by a comprehensive presentation made by the Company followed by an on-site audit undertaken by a team of technical experts from SHRM. The on-site audit includes one-on-one interviews with the CEO, key management personnel and a cross section of staff categories, validation of key HR practices and link to business strategy, and further silent observations on organizational climate and employee behaviors. The observations and findings of the technical experts are presented for the final evaluation process undertaken by an independent judging panel which consists of industrial experts and renown HR professionals with due consideration given to the results obtained during the on-site audits.
In total there are 10 Gold Awards and 10 Silver Awards presented in the Overall Category, while 6 special category based awards are also given to deserving companies.
Goodhope was proud to be a recipient of a Silver award in its first attempt and to be ranked together with other leading Corporates of Sri Lanka. Whilst this land-mark achievement has provided Goodhope a significant stepping-stone to further endeavor its HR vision in truly becoming an “Employer of choice”, adapting, embracing and application of good HRM practices in-line with Goodhope’s HR vision by all management and staff of the Group would enable us to take this recognition to greater heights in the future.
